Psalm 5| Divine Help

<<To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David.>> Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.


Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple. Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.

But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. (Psalms 5:1-12 KJV)

Psalms One Hundred Twenty- One

This Psalmist, perhaps was a pilgrim to Jerusalem.  He saw the mighty fortress of Zion, and heard his companions express confidence in its mighty defenses.  But he trusted in God as the source of his help rather than in man - made citadels and nature's rocky mountains.

A Psalm of David - A Song of degrees

 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.


The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.  (KJV)

Psalms Sixty-six | Psalms for the Soul

To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm.

 Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:

Psalms 66:2 Sing forth the honor of his name: make his praise glorious.

Psalms 66:3 Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

Psalms 66:4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.

Psalms 66:5 Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.

Psalms 66:6 He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.

Psalms 66:7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.

Psalms 66:8 O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:

Psalms 66:9 Which hold our soul in life, and suffer not our feet to be moved.

Psalms 66:10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

Psalms 66:11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.

Psalms 66:12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

Psalms 66:13 I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,

Psalms 66:14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.

Psalms 66:15 I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.

Psalms 66:16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

Psalms 66:17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.

Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Psalms 66:19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.

Psalms 66:20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

Psalms 24 | When David Brought the Ark to Jerusalem

A Psalm of David

WHEN DAVID BROUGHT THE ARK TO JERUSALEM

The happiest moment in David's life was the time when he captured Jerusalem and brought the Ark of the Covenant there.  A great procession of priests and Levites sang as choruses answering each other, in celebration of the notable event.  David describes the qualities that the true worshiper ought to have when he comes into God's presence

First Choir:
   The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof the world, and they that dwell therein.

Second Choir: 
 For he has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

First Choir:
  Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in his holy place?



Second Choir: 
He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who have not lifted up his

soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

First Choir: 

This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek your face, O Jacob. Selah.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.  Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Chorus of Priests:
 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.  Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.
