Psalms for the Soul: Psalms Forty-Nine

To the chief Musician
A Psalm for the sons of Korah.

Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world both low and high, rich and poor, together. My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?  They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it cease for ever:) That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption. For he see that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. Nevertheless man being in honor abide not: he is like the beasts that perish.

This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.  Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

For when he die he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.  Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when you do well to thyself.

He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. Man that is in honor, and understand not, is like the beasts that perish.
 (KJV)

Psalms for the Soul: Psalms Twenty-Five

A Psalm of David

Unto You, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in you: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

Yea, let none that wait on you be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Shew me your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.  Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are the God of my salvation; on you do I wait all the day.

Remember, O LORD, your tender mercies and your lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to your mercy remember you me for your goodness' sake, O LORD.

Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.  The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.  All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth to such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

For your name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great. What man is he that fears the LORD? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.  His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.  Turn you to me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.  The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring you me out of my distresses.  Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.  O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in you. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on you.  Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Psalms 24 | When David Brought the Ark to Jerusalem

A Psalm of David

WHEN DAVID BROUGHT THE ARK TO JERUSALEM

The happiest moment in David's life was the time when he captured Jerusalem and brought the Ark of the Covenant there.  A great procession of priests and Levites sang as choruses answering each other, in celebration of the notable event.  David describes the qualities that the true worshiper ought to have when he comes into God's presence

First Choir:
The earth is the LORD'S, and the fullness thereof the world, and they that dwell therein.

Second Choir:
For he has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

First Choir:
Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in his holy place?

Second Choir:
He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who have not lifted up his

soul to vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.  He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

First Choir:
This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek your face, O Jacob. Selah.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.  Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

Chorus of Priests:
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.  Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

Psalms 23 | The LORD is My Shepherd

GOD, THE GOOD SHEPHERD
        A Psalm of David

He leads me
beside the still waters.
The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures he leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul: he lead me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with  your rod and your staff they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of mine enemies You anoint my head with oil my cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Jesus in the New Testament, refers to Himself as the " Good Shepherd."

Psalms Twenty-Two | Psalms for the Soul

To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar
 A Psalm of David

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from helping me, and from the
words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but you hear not; and in the night season, and am not silent.  But thou art holy, O You that inhabit the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in you: they trusted, and you did deliver them.

They cried unto you, and were delivered: they trusted in you, and were not confounded.  But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.  All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,  He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

But you are he that took me out of the womb: you did make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.  I was cast upon you from the womb: you are my God from my mother's belly.  Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.  They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleave to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.

For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.  I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.  They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.  Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns. I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.

For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.  My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.

The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.  All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before you.

For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations. All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.  A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness to a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

 (KJV)

Psalms - Twenty- One | Psalms for the Soul

In this Psalm, David sings of a King
 that is greater than he.
The king shall joy in your strength,

The king shall joy in your strength, O LORD; and in your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
For you prevent him with the blessings of goodness: you set a crown of pure gold on his head.

He asked life of you, and you gave it him, even length of days for ever and ever. His glory is great in your salvation: honor and majesty have you laid upon him. For you have made him most blessed for ever: You have made him exceeding glad with your countenance.

For the king trust in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: your right hand shall find out those that hate you.

You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of your  anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.

Their fruit shall you destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
For they intended evil against you: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.

Therefore shall you make them turn their back, when you shall make ready your arrows upon your strings against the face of them.  Be you exalted, LORD, in your own strength: so will we sing and praise your power.
 (KJV)

Psalms - Twenty | Psalms for the Soul

The LORD hear you in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend you

Send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion  Remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice; Selah.  Grant you according to your own heart, and fulfill all your counsel.

We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfill all your petitions.

Now know I that the LORD saves his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.  Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

 (KJV)

Psalms 19 | The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

Psalms for the Soul.blogspot.com The Heavens Declare the Glory of God and the Firmament Show His Handy work.

Day to day utter speech, and night to night show knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.  Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them has he set a tabernacle for the sun

Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.
His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit to the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.  The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.  Who can understand his errors? Cleanse you me from secret faults.  Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
 (KJV)

Psalms Eighteen- I Love the LORD | Psalms for the Soul

To the chief Musician
 A Psalm of David

The servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies  and from the hand of Saul: And he said I will love you, O LORD, my strength.

Psalms for the soul. blogspot.com

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.  I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.  The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.  There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.  He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.
The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.  Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.  He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.  He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me. The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me.

For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.  For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.  I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.  Therefore has the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

With the merciful you will show yourself merciful; with an upright man you will show yourself upright;  With the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the forward you will shew yourself  forward.  For you will save the afflicted people; but will bring down high looks.

For you will light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.  For by you I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.  As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.  For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

It is God that gird me with strength, and make my way perfect.  He make my feet like hinds' feet, and set me upon my high places.  He teach my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

you have also given me the shield of your salvation: and your right hand has held me up, and your gentleness has made me great.  You have enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.  For you have girded me with strength to the battle: you have subdued under me those that rose up against me.

You have also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.  They cried, but there was none to save them: even to the LORD, but he answered them not.  Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; and you have made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.  As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves to me

The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.  The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.  It is God that avenge me, and subdue the people under me.

He deliver me from mine enemies: yea, you lift me up above those that rise up against me: you have delivered me from the violent man.  Therefore will I give thanks to you, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises to your name.

Great deliverance give he to his king; and show mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

Psalms Seventeen - Psalms for the Soul

Hear the right, O LORD, attend to my cry  give ear to my prayer, that go not out
of feigned lips.   Let my sentence come forth from your presence; let your eyes behold the things that are equal.

You have proved mine heart; you have visited me in the night; you have tried me, and shall find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.  Concerning the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.

Hold up my goings in your paths, that my footsteps slip not. I have called upon you, for you will hear me, O God: incline your ear to me, and hear my speech.

Show your marvellous lovingkindness, O you that save by your right hand them which put their trust in you from those that rise up against them.

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of your wings, From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.  They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth

Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is your sword

From men which are your hand, O LORD, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly you fill with your hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.

As for me, I will behold your face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with your likeness.

Psalms Sixteen- God Preserves | Psalms for the Soul

Michtam of David.
A Poem

Preserve me, O God: for in you do I put my trust.  O my soul, you have said to the LORD, You are my Lord: my goodness extend not to you  But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.  The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: you maintain my lot.

The lines are fallen to me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.  I will bless the LORD, who has given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.  I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoice my flesh also shall rest in hope.  For you will not leave my soul in hell; neither will you suffer (allow) your Holy One to see corruption.

Psalms 16:11
You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

 (KJV)

Psalms 15 | Who Shall Abide in Your Tabernacle?

A Psalm of David.

LORD, who shall abide in your tabernacle? who shall dwell in your holy hill?

He that walk uprightly, and work righteousness, and speak the truth in his heart.

He that backbite not with his tongue, nor do evil to his neighbor, nor take up a reproach against his neighbor.

In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honor them that fear the LORD. He that swear to his own hurt, and change not.

He that put not out his money to usury, nor take reward against the innocent. He that do these things shall never be moved.
 (KJV)

Psalms Fourteen - Psalms for the Soul

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David

The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that do good.

The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that do good, no, not one.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.  There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.  Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD brings back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Psalms Thirteen - Psalms for the Soul

psalmsforthesoul.blogspot.com
How long will you forget me, O LORD? Forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?

How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

But I have trusted in your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

I will sing unto the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalms Twelve | Psalms for the Soul -

It is supposed that David penned this psalm in Saul's reign, when there was a general decay of honesty and piety both in court and country, which he here complains of to God, and very feelingly, for he himself suffered by the treachery of his false friends and the insolence of his sworn enemies.

Psalms for the Soul-Psalm of David Help, LORD; for the godly man cease; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

They speak vanity every one with his neighbor: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.

The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speak proud things:

Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puff at him.

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.

You shall keep them, O LORD, you shall preserve them from this generation for ever.

The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
 (KJV)

Psalms Eleven|Psalms for the Soul

In the LORD put I my trust: how say you to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily
shoot at the upright in heart.  If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

The LORD try the righteous: but the wicked and him that love violence his soul hate.

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
For the righteous LORD love righteousness; his countenance do behold the upright.

 (KJV)

Psalms Ten|Psalms for the Soul

A Psalm of David
David complains of the wickedness of the wicked. He prays to God to appear against them for the relief of his people and comforts himself with hopes that he would do so in due time.

                 Psalms Ten
Why stand you afar off, O LORD? Why hide you yourself in times of trouble?

The wicked in his pride do persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

For the wicked boast of his heart's desire, and bless the covetous, who the LORD abhor.

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

His ways are always grievous; your judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffs at them.

He have said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

He sit in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places do he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.  He lie in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lie in wait to catch the poor: he do catch the poor, when he draw him into his net.  He crouch, and humble himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

He has said in his heart, God has forgotten: he hide his face; he will never see it. Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.  Wherefore do the wicked contemn God? He have said in his heart, You will not require it.

You have seen it; for you behold mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor commit himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.  Break you the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till you find none.

The LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.  LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble: you will prepare their heart,  you will cause your ear to hear:
To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.

 (KJV)

Psalms Nine | Psalms for the Soul

I will praise you, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will show forth all your marvellous works.

I will be glad and rejoice in you: I will sing praise to your name, O You most High.

When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at your presence.

For you have maintained my right and my cause; you sat in the throne judging right.

You have rebuked the heathen, you have destroyed the wicked, you have put out their name for ever and ever.

O you enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and you have destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them. But the LORD shall endure for ever: he have prepared his throne for judgment.

And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness. The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

And they that know thy name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you. Sing praises to the LORD, which dwell in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

When he make inquisition for blood, he remember them: he forget not the cry of the humble.
Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, you that lift me up from the gates of death:

That I may show forth all you praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in you salvation. The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken.  The LORD is known by the judgment which he execute: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion  (that is Meditation).  Selah.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.  For the needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish for ever. Arise, O LORD; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in your sight.

Put them in fear, O LORD: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah.

Psalms 8 | O LORD How Excellent is Your Name in the Earth

O'Lord How excellent is you name in all the earth
To the chief Musician upon Gittith

      A Psalm of David.

O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that you might still the enemy and the avenger.

When I consider thy heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained;  What is man, that you are mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visit him?

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honor.

The Works of your hand
You made him to have dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet:

All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever pass through the paths of the seas.

O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Psalms Seven - Psalms for the Soul

A Psalms of David
When He was Persecuted by his Enemy

O LORD my God, in you do I put my trust: save me from all them that #persecute me, and deliver me Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.  O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;

If I have rewarded evil to him that was at peace with me Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honor in the dust. Selah.
Arise, O LORD, in your anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that you have commanded.

psalmsforthesoul.blogspot.com

So shall the congregation of the people compass you about: for their sakes therefore return you on high. The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God tries the hearts and reins.  My defence is of God, which save the upright in heart.  God judge the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he has bent his bow, and made it ready.  He has also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordain his arrows against the persecutors.  Behold, he travail with iniquity, and has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.

He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.  His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.

I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

 (KJV)

Psalms Six - Psalms for the Soul

O LORD, rebuke me not in your anger, neither chasten me in your hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed but you, O LORD, how long?
psalmsforthesoul.blogspot.com

Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for your mercies' sake. For in death there is no remembrance of you: in the grave who shall give you thanks?

I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it wax old because of all mine enemies.

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.

The LORD has heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.

Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

 (KJV)

Psalms Five - Psalms for the Soul

psalmsforthesoul.blogspot.com Give ear to my words O LORD consider my meditation.  Hearken to the voice of my cry my King and my God for to you will I pray. My voice shall you hear in the morning O LORD in the morning will I direct my prayer to you and will look up.  For you are not a God that have pleasure in wickedness neither shall evil dwell with you.  The foolish shall not stand in your sight you hate all workers of iniquity. You shall destroy them that speak leasing the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

But as for me, I will come into your house in the multitude of your mercy and in your fear will I worship toward your holy temple. Lead me O LORD in your righteousness because of mine enemies make your way straight before my face.

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth their inward part is very wickedness their throat is an open sepulchre they flatter with their tongue.  Destroy  them O God let them fall by their own counsels cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against you.

But let all those that put their trust in you rejoice let them ever shout for joy because you defend them let them also that love your name be joyful in you.  For you LORD, will bless the righteous with favor will you compass him as with a shield.

Psalms Four | Psalms for the Soul

To the chief Musician on Neginoth
(  a poem set to music on a string instrument)

 A Psalm of David.

A Prayer of David- hear me when I call
Hear me when I call O God of my righteousness
You have enlarged me when I was in distress have mercy upon me and hear my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity and seek after leasing? Selah.

But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

Stand in awe, and sin not commune with your own heart upon your bed and be still. Selah.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness and put your trust in the LORD.  There be many that say Who will show us any good?  LORD lift thou up the light of your countenance upon us.

You have put gladness in my heart more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep for thou LORD only make me dwell in safety.

 (KJV)

Psalms Two - Psalms for the Soul

Psalms 2:1
Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.  He that sit in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

psalmsforthesoul.blogspot.com

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.  Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me,  Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Hebrews 1:5 and Hebrews 5:5

Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.  Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
 (KJV)

Psalms 3 | When David Fled From Absalom

Psalms of David

When he fled from Absalom his son.

A Psalms of DavidLORD how are they increased that trouble me!  Many are they that rise up against me.  Many there be which say of my soul There is no help for him in God. Selah.

But thou O LORD art a shield for me my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.  I cried unto the LORD with my voice and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

I laid me down and slept; I awake; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.  Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.  Salvation belongs to the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
 (KJV)

Psalms 1| How A Man is Blessed by God

psalmsforthesoul.blogspot.comBlessed is the man that walk not in the counsel of the ungodly nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bring forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drive away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  For the LORD know the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
 (KJV)
